Apostle-Bishop, Leslie A. Shields was born-again at a Bible Study held in the offices of an auto-parts store in July of 1979 in Los Angeles, California. In August of that same year, she joined Crenshaw Christian Center, under the late Apostle, Dr. Frederick K.C. Price
Apostle-Bishop remained a member of Crenshaw for 7 years and faithfully served the church by teaching Children’s Church and Sunday School. She was also a faithful Intercessory Prayer leader, Counselor, Women’s Fellowship committee member and member of the Street Witnessing team.
While at Crenshaw, Apostle-Designate did significant study in the areas of faith, prayer, and deliverance. She also took part in Rhema Bible College correspondence school. (Kenneth E. Hagin)
One month after joining Crenshaw Christian Center, (August 1979) God connected Apostle-Bishop to the late Chief Apostle-Bishop Marion E. Johnson. Apostle-Bishop Shields and later became one of the foundation members of I AM Faith Intercessors, and the first member of I AM Faith Mission Ministries. (I AM Faith Mission Ministries became Same Like Faith Family Christian Church, and the headquarters church of Same Like Faith Ebenezer Ministries Fellowship, International—Mableton, GA.)
In 1988, after the divorce from her husband, Apostle-Bishop moved from the state of California. Driving across country with her 5-year-old son and 14-year-old niece she became established in Georgia as a City of Atlanta police officer. As a police officer Apostle-Bishop Shields appeared on the Trinity Broadcast Network and produced an Evangelistic radio show.
She is the first female police officer to serve as a police chaplain for the City of Atlanta, and is one of the original members of the City of Atlanta Police Chaplaincy Corp. As a chaplain she was able to have specific churches in each zone agree to open their doors 3 times a week in the mornings and evenings for the police in their area to come and have prayer. She also established, “Sharing Joy Through Toys”. A program in which police officers would take toys and provisions into their patrol areas for children and families in need.
An avid Evangelist, Apostle-Bishop ministered to many on the street, in the cooperate offices, in the City Counsel and while taking folk to jail. Wherever she went, she took the gospel of Jesus Christ with her. She also sang in the Police Gospel Choir.
Apostle-Bishop served as the Principal of The ANSWER Alternative School, and as the Dean, curriculum developer and adviser for 7 Steps to Glory Christian University. She served as an executive board member and the executive secretary of Same Like Faith Ebenezer Ministries Fellowship International from it's inception in 2009 until its end in 2023.
Apostle-Bishop is also a prolific writer. She is the author of the book, “Witnessing on a Shoe String… a Guide to Sharing the Gospel on the Street” and over 80 published articles. Apostle-Bishop Shields continues to spread God’s Word through her Evangelistic Ministry, “Love Lives Evangelistic Ministries, Inc” and her Publication Ministry, Love Lives Publications, LLC. Through these ministries she provides evangelism training, publishes, and provides witnessing tracks, witnessing materials and prayer tools.
Apostle-Designate Shields holds both secular, and ministry academic degrees. In the secular arena she holds an A.A., in Speech and Public Relations Communications from California State University, Northridge, a M.A. degree in Education from university of Phoenix, Arizona, and an M.A. degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Also, from the University of Phoenix, Arizona. In the area of ministry, she holds a PhD. In Evangelism and Church Planting, and a PhD in Christian Education, and Leadership. Both from the former 7-Steps to Glory Christian University.
Over the years, she has been elevated from church member to Missionary, from Missionary to Evangelist, from Evangelist to Elder, from Elder to Pastor, from Pastor to Overseer, from Overseer to Bishop, and , from Bishop to Apostle. At Same Like Family Christian Center Church, she served as the Ministerial Advisor and department head over Evangelism and Publication.
Apostle-Bishop Shields always gives credit and honor to the late Apostle, Dr. Fredrick C. Price for teaching the foundations of Faith. And, to Chief Apostle Bishop Marion E. Johnson for the significant guidance and support in assisting Apostle-Bishop walk out that foundational teaching from 1979 until June of 2023.
